Voice of Our Own -- Film Description:
"In the middle of a raging winter storm 350 women from all parts of Canada met in Winnipeg for four days to attend the National Conference of Immigrant & Visible Minority Women. When it concluded a new national organization representing the needs of some 2 million Canadian immigrant and visible minority women had been created. Voice Of Our Own is a powerful and inspiring film. It provides a rare glimpse of a struggle to find a collective identity that recognizes and respects differences. It successfully captures the dynamics of the collective process and demonstrates how even the most disadvantaged groups can empower themselves politically."
