« Elle construit des modèles de bateaux. Il joue du violon. Bien qu'étrangers, ils sont pourtant intimement liés l'un à l'autre par les sons qui s'échappent de leurs appartements respectifs. Jusqu'au jour où le hasard tente de bien faire les choses... D'une étonnante beauté, ce film a été réalisé au moyen d'une technique d'animation extrêmement laborieuse, la peinture sur verre. Film sans paroles. »

« I was just interested in the idea of living in apartments and the idea of intimacy and how—you know, if you live in an apartment building and you can hear the sounds of your next-door neighbour, you know their routines. And yet, you might run into each other on the front of the building or in the elevator or something and you barely say hello. That dichotomy was kind of interesting. So I always wanted to do something to do with that. »
